20 Years of 4x4 Excellence

ALL TERRAIN 4X4 has been in operation in the 4×4 industry for the past 20 years. We strongly uphold and support eco-friendly practices and that is why we train the way we do – personalized, practical and with a strong emphasis on environmentally friendly driving techniques. We strongly believe in sharing our knowledge to preserve the earth as we traverse over it. To date we have trained over 5000 people and were involved in many corporate and private events; all centred around 4×4 driving experiences.

We are extremely proud of our own facility, based at Zevenwacht Wine Estate on the outskirts of Cape Town. This venue offers world-class 4x4 tracks and training areas, and Zevenwacht's hospitality and conferencing services are next level. It's no surprise that some of South Africa's major motor manufacturers prefer our facility for their official product launches, training, and customer days. Naturally, 4x4 enthusiasts and clubs enjoy their time on our trails to the fullest.

All our training courses are skills-development based and aligned with the former South African Qualifications Network (SAQA) Unit Standards for off-road driving. While these qualifications have since lapsed, we focus solely on the practical development of essential skills. Training manuals are provided electronically, and each client receives a Certificate of Completion upon finishing their course. For the aspiring 4x4 enthusiast who does not have their own vehicle, worry no more. We have 4x4 vehicles available for rent, allowing you to complete your training with us. The rate is R2500 per day.

Our Team

Francois Marais

Francois performed specialized driver training throughout Africa for a range of clientele in the mining, security and construction industries. He is also involved with some motor manufacturers where he does vehicle tests, launches and training for staff and customers. Francois is a qualified trainer, assessor and overland guide.

Trevor Knutsen

Trevor’s experience in the 4×4 industry spans over several decades. He has worked with many brands and 4×4 trainers, as he shares his passion and experience with the wish for promoting safe and responsible off-road driving. He believes in personalised “hands on” training and therefore thrives on one-on-one training. He has completed several 4×4 /off-road related courses, an overlanding course and is also a qualified assessor and moderator.

We are a proud member of the SA AIA, a member-driven professional body for the Adventure Based Learning Industry and the Adventure Tourist Guiding Industry. Through this membership, we ensure that our services adhere to industry norms and standards, and that we deliver the best possible service to our clients through skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable training facilitators.
