Sand Driving &
Recovery Course
Course Description
The Sand Driving and Recovery Course is a practical learning experience on the fine art of driving safely and effectively over sandy terrain. Vehicle preparation, including tyre pressures, is one of those crucial elements to success, together with selecting the right gear and engaging/disengaging the appropriate 4WD systems in the vehicle.
The correct driving technique when driving on sand, is closely associated with applying the correct amount of momentum. Traversing on steep dunes, crossing those same dunes and descending on the other side all sound very intimidating, but once mastered is one of the most enjoyable off-road experienced one can have. Learn how to do just that – safely, comfortably and effectively.
Added to this is the most crucial and effective use of recovery equipment associated with sand driving. These includes kinetic and static recovery ropes/straps, shackles, spades/shovels and vehicle recovery points. Its uses are demonstrated, and practical applications will be done by the client.
It is strongly recommended that a basic 4×4 driving course (or some off-road driving experience) has been completed prior to doing this course, or at least that you have a fair amount of off-road driving experience.
A minimum of 2 up to a maximum of 10 vehicles per session is required.
